Microsoft has released the Windows 10 Anniversary Update for retail users, and just like we told you yesterday, the company is offering several methods of installing the new version, including via Windows Update and with stand-alone ISOs.

The ISOs are particularly important for many users because they make it possible to clean-install the operating system and start from scratch, which in many cases can address major performance issues and bugs that would otherwise take a lot of time to deal with.

Furthermore, the same ISOs can be used to create installation media, such as USB drives or discs that can help you install the Anniversary Update not only on your PC but also on many others, so for IT admins, these clearly come in super handy.

The ISOs are available right now via the Media Creation Tool, which also guides you through the necessary steps to create the aforementioned installation media, but also separately, and you can get them using the links at the end of the article. Keep in mind that these ISOs come directly from Microsoft, and if you opt for this method, you need to build your own bootable USB drive whereas the Media Creation Tool does that for you all automatically.

Check the size

The ISOs are available for both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 10 Anniversary Update and will take some time to download, given their size - the 32-bit version has 3.2 GB while the 64-bit weighs in 4.1 GB. Depending on your Internet speed, it could take anywhere between a few minutes and several hours to complete the update.

The Anniversary Update bring a long list of improvements, including a revamped Start menu, a dark theme in Settings, updated apps, a redesigned Start menu, Windows Ink, and support for browser extensions in Microsoft Edge. There are plenty of tweaks across the operating system, so there’s no reason not to update at least to find out what this is all about.
